In fifty words or less, describe yourself.
I am a disciple of Jesus Christ and want to help the world be more compassionate and loving. I just graduated from GT as a CM and started grad school this semester (Fall 2020) and am pursuing a Masters of Science in Global Media and Cultures.
What is the coolest thing you have done in your studies as a CM major?
I had a game where we made children’s games and I got to create a game that helped teach children about the environment and how to take care of it. It was really fun getting to learn how little kids think and also creating something physical. I think also tied with that class was my educational technologies class where my group made an interactive narrative which was really cute!
I took both those classes during very difficult semesters in my time at tech / life in general but they were really fun to work through (although definitely challenging) and the teachers genuinely cared about the students which was really special.
What are your professional goals?
Unclear! I would like to help people and learn how to communicate with others as well as help others communicate with each other but as of now I don’t know exactly what that will look like. Right now though, the program I am in for my Masters allows us to do a lot of career exploration and we have a final project focused on what we are each interested in which can be anything from a documentary to an internship so hopefully this next year will be helpful in gaining more clarity in which direction I want to start out in post-grad.
In one sentence, explain why students should choose the CM major.
CM helped me understand both how computer science people and engineers think and how more liberal arts-focusde people think and was kind of a fusion in the middle which I think taught me patience and gave me the ability to communicate complicated things but also value the place humanities have in the tech world.
